Companies release car sales data for the second quarter of 2023. Ford F-Series continues to hold the top spot. F-Series sales were up 34% quarterly and 27.9% yearly, with 212,516 units sold in three months, 4466 of which are F-150 Lightnings. Next are Chevrolet trucks, which sales fell 1.2% in the second quarter with 141,299 units sold. Ram holds the third place with 117,699 pickups sold, about the same as it was in the second quarter of 2022. Next on the list are GMC Sierra, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan.

Sales results for midsize pickups aren't all that surprising,  Toyota Tacoma being well ahead of other models with 62,262 units sold, up 7.5% from last year. The release of the new Tacoma will only increase this gap. Next on the list are Chevrolet Colorado (19,909 units), Nissan Frontier (17,213), Honda Ridgeline (14,512), Jeep Gladiator (13,751), Ford Ranger (12,618) and GMC Canyon (6,708).

Speaking of compact pickup trucks, Ford Maverick sales were up 7.8% from 21,021 sales. That number would be significantly higher if Ford could keep up with the huge demand for this truck. Far behind is the Hyundai Santa Cruz compact truck, with just 10,743 pickups sold, up 10% from last year.
