Lincoln is updating its largest SUV, the Navigator. The 2022 model has received a visual update, new interior trim options and several new features, including a hands-free highway driver assistance system. These changes apply to both the standard Navigator and the long-wheelbase Navigator L, which has more spacious third-row seats and more cargo space.

Exterior changes have been made to the front and rear: the grille has received a new texture and shape, and the headlights have received new lighting elements. The LED taillights now have an animation sequence that fades out of the center when you approach the car and in the opposite direction when you get out of the car.

The Navigator's luxurious interior features a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system that uses Ford Sync 4 software as well as new graphics for the digital instrument cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. The navigator will offer wireless updates for the first time. The second row seats have a new massage function and are heated and cooled.

For the Black Label, Lincoln is introducing two new interior "themes", one called Central Park and another called Invitation, which includes special trim and upholstery. Also introduced is a new exclusive Black Label body color called Manhattan Green.

Lincoln's version of the highway driver assistance System will be called ActiveGlide and will debut on this large SUV. It will function in the same way as Cadillac's Super Cruise available on the Navigator's main rival, the Escalade, allowing the driver to get their hands off the wheel in certain circumstances on the system's designated motorways. A camera that checks if the driver is looking closely at the road is installed in the dashboard. ActiveGlide will be optional on the Reserve and Black Label models and will come with a three-year free trial before the customer is asked to pay the subscription fee.

The twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 upgrades mean that it will produce slightly less horsepower than before: 440 hp compared to 450 hp last year. It still has the same 510 lb-ft of torque, uses a 10-speed automatic transmission, and will come with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

Lincoln has yet to announce pricing for the 2022 Navigator, but they are expected to be slightly higher than the outgoing model's $78,000 base price. The new Navigator will go on sale in early 2022.
