The Swiss Knife of Pickup Trucks: 2024 Toyota Tacoma Offers New Trailhunter Model, Hybrid, Manual and 6-Foot Body

Tacoma has led the midsize pickup truck segment in sales for nearly 20 years as competitors like Ford, Jeep and Chevrolet have come, gone and come back. One thing has remained unchanged - Toyota has controlled roughly 40% of the US midsize pickup truck market since 2019. The updated flagship, midsize 2024 Tacoma, features new exterior and interior design in addition to enhanced safety, convenience and performance technologies. The car will offer two variants of the turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, including an "i-FORCE MAX" hybrid model that produces 326 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque.

Unlike competitors, Toyota will also continue to produce a two-door version of the Tacoma and offer two different body lengths. Most competitors switched to offering only four-door, single-body midsize pickups to simplify construction. Toyota also offers a truck with a manual transmission - an absolute rarity in today's automotive industry!

The new Tacoma is available in SR, SR5, TRD PreRunner, TRD Sport, TRD Off Road, Limited, TRD Pro and Trailhunter trims. Tacoma's new "Trailhunter" is a rugged off-road pickup truck designed for trail, off-road, and camping enthusiasts that can sleep in a tent in the truck bed or on the roof. Toyota partnered with ARB to fit the vehicle.

Pricing for the 2024 Tacoma will be announced closer to the vehicle's arrival at US dealerships later this year. Current starting prices range from $28,250 to $48,000, depending on the model. The average deal price with Tacoma might be about $41,000.
