Ram is preparing plans to add smaller pickup trucks to their lineup to compete with Ford Maverick and competitive models from Chevrolet, GMC, Ford and Toyota. It is assumed that the car will be called Ram 1200 or Ram Dakota. The Ram test truck was spotted in maximum camouflage hiding the exterior. The camouflage panels also lengthen the roofline to make the prototype look more like an SUV or a van.

The prototype was spotted in the north of Sweden during tests along with other Stellantis cars. The Ram 1200 will be partly based on the Fiat Toro. The pickup's headlights stand out and are also reminiscent of the Toro. Disguise fails to hide the massive grille. Also noticeable is the significant ground clearance of the car.

The possible platform for the Ram 1200 or Ram Dakota would be the Small Wide 4×4, STLA Medium or STLA Large. In terms of size, the new truck will stand between the Fiat Toro or Ram 1000, presented in the markets of other countries, and Ram 1500. The car is still in the early testing period, we are waiting for more details from Stellantis.
