Toyota Land Cruiser returns for the first time since ending sales after the 2021 model year. Exclusive to the US, the Land Cruiser will have only one engine: a 2.4L turbocharged four-cylinder combined with a hybrid system (326 hp, 630 Nm). This is the same i-Force Max powertrain that will appear in the facelifted 2024 Toyota Tacoma. Power is transmitted through an eight-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel drive. You can tow up to 2721kg and a trailer hitch is standard.
The car is aimed at off-road. In addition to the standard 4WD, Land Cruiser will get a two-speed transfer case that allows you to work in 4-Hi or 4-Lo modes. Center differential with lock and rear differential with electronic lock in the base. The Land Cruiser trim (similar to the model name) and First Edition also received a switchable front anti-roll bar for more off-road capability. 22 cm of ground clearance and approach angles of 31 and 22 degrees will also help off-road.
The third row of seats is no longer used, and judging by the announcement, the Land Cruiser will become a five-seat two-row SUV. Styling and layout match the Lexus GX, only with fewer materials. There's physical climate control and easy access to off-road settings. Both rows are spacious with plenty of head and legroom. The second row doesn't just fold, it also folds forward to open up even more luggage space.
The retro 1958 Land Cruiser trim features an 8-inch touchscreen and cloth seats, while the Land Cruiser trim features heated and ventilated seats and a larger 12.3-inch screen. The new 2024 Land Cruiser is due to hit dealerships next spring. While Toyota has not officially announced the price, but the starting MSRP is expected to be around $55,000.
