Toyota Tundra 2022 - new Chevy, Ford and Ram rival

Of course, if we compare our videos, the Toyota Tundra is inferior in popularity to both the RAM 1500 and the Ford F-150. The main reason being, of course, rare updates. This model has not changed since 2006, except for the restyling in 2013. In general, it fell slightly short of the level of its competitors.

As it turned out, this summer we were finally presented with some photos of the new Toyota Tundra and some information about it. And this week Toyota has officially unveiled the new 2022 Toyota Tundra. Since the number of applications for the new Toyota Tundra is very large, we decided to give more information about the new product and announce the opening of sales for this model. Let's take a look at what the new Toyota Tundra has to offer.

First of all, the engine was changed. In this case, we are talking about an ambiguous change. Lots of people are fans of large V8s, and perhaps in the near future Toyota will return the large engine to the special version of Tundra. Now the new Tundra comes with a new engine - a 3445 cc biturbo-V6, which produces 395 hp and 480 lbf∙ft of torque. Paired with the engine, a ten-speed automatic transmission.

Another option is a hybrid, the i-Force Max, based on the same engine and gearbox. The electric motor is powered by a nickel-metal hydride battery. It is located under the rear seats. At 5200 rpm, a power of 327 lbf∙ft is achieved, and at 2400 rpm - 583 lbf∙ft. This unit will be available only in 1794, Platinum and Limited trim levels, as well as TRD Pro - SR and SR5 will remain at no additional charge. The traction depends on the modification, which can be sent to all wheels at once or only to the rear axle.

Changes in the suspension affected the rear axle springs - they were replaced with springs. Pushrods were added to the front. The pickup should be better controlled and more comfortable, while body roll should be reduced by a quarter.

TNGA-F is a new platform. It has adaptive dampers and multi-link rear air suspension. The clearance can be adjusted manually or automatically. This functionality is not limited to off-road. The system achieves better customization for trailers by selecting the body level.

A choice of drive is available: either rear or part time full, hard-wired, with a reductive gear. An electrical rear differential lock is available for all-wheel drive versions.

The updated Toyota Tundra has two cab options, both with four seats. These are Double Cab (standard) and CrewMax (larger option). For the DoubleCab, the body length is 2 or 2.5 meters, while the Crew Max offers 1.7 or 2 meters. Composite materials with aluminum inserts are the main components of the cargo compartment. The payload reached 880 kg, which is 11 percent more than the old maximum. The towed trailer can now weigh up to 5 and a half tonnes, 17.6 percent more than the previous Tundra.

Exterior design continues the evolution. Calty Studios, California-based designers have maintained the Technical Muscle style. A lot of embossing on the sides, an unusual sill line at the side windows, an oversized radiator grille with an interesting pattern, front T-shaped optics and modern headlights at the rear. In the dark, the trailer is illuminated by special LEDs built into the rear-view mirrors. In all versions of the pickup, the body door is opened with a key fob.

Also, the button for opening the tailgate will be integrated into the rear headlight unit. Starting from Limited version, the cab will be hydraulically attached to the frame.

Changes have also taken place in the interior. The basic Tundra is equipped with an eight-inch multimedia system screen. Top-end configurations are equipped with a tablet and a virtual dashboard - with 14" and 12.3" diagonals. A digital instrument panel is also optional. In towing or off-road mode, it provides useful information. Toyota, more specifically its Connected Technologies division, has developed a new Audio Multimedia system in Texas, and this is the first time the new Tundra is using it. Key features: the function of cloud storage for saving profiles and support for voice commands. The saved settings can be loaded in another vehicle with similar technologies. Of course, you won't surprise anyone with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standards, and if we talk about unusual functions, then the car can provide Wi-Fi to ten devices. Completely new security systems have increased the amount of high-tech equipment.

The usual Toyota Tundra already has Safety Sense electric assistants version 2.5. This is a cruise, and an emergency braking system with recognition of bicycles and pedestrians, and a system for keeping the car in the lane, checking blind spots, and assistance for reversing out of the parking zone.

Of course, it is worth noting that a special option will also be retained - the TRD Pro kit. The all-wheel drive pickup is equipped with 2.5-inch FOX shock absorbers, the anti-roll bar has also been reinforced, the underbody is protected with special protection, Falken tires are installed, and there is also CRAWL Control - a special 5-speed off-road mode. Also, this version has been significantly expanded, following the path of the Ford Raptor and RAM TRX, there was a special interior design, additional lighting, and exclusive 18-inch BBS forged wheels. I would like to note that TRD Off Road and TRD Sport versions will also enter the market.

Starting today, we are accepting pre-orders for the 2022 Toyota Tundra. We conclude a pre-order agreement for $500. This amount will subsequently be credited to the total payment. Taking money from you, we guarantee that your order will be placed in production as soon as the order bank is opened. According to official information, the order bank will open in October, and the release will begin at the end of November. This means that there is a real opportunity to get the first cars at the end of 2021.

The configurator will appear on the official website simultaneously with the opening of the order bank. We will contact each client in advance, build the desired car and conclude a deposit agreement for 10% of the MSRP price (factory price).
