The new GMC Hummer EV SUV is a step up from any other vehicle in the General Motors catalog. The GMC Hummer EV SUV is smaller than its pickup truck companion, with an overall length of 4,998 mm. As a result, the Hummer SUV's shorter overhangs improve its off-road capabilities compared to a pickup truck, with an improved approach angle of 49.6 degrees, departure angle of 49 degrees and breakover angle of 34.4 degrees. These figures exceed almost all luxury SUVs on sale at the moment.
Each Hummer EV SUV comes with a package of 20 battery modules, with a total capacity of 170 kWh. GMC says the kit is good for a range of about 505 km with standard 22-inch wheels and 35-inch off-road tires. When choosing the Extreme Off-Road package, this figure drops to 479 km.
The Hummer has a powerful 830 hp, and GMC still claims a crazy 15,592 Nm of torque, practicing “multiplying” the power of electric motors. The actual torque is in the range of 1500 - 1650 Nm. Thanks to the Watts to Freedom mode carried over from the launch models, the 3X SUV accelerates to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. This is quite impressive for a car that weighs over 3,900 kg, putting a lot of stress on the brakes.
Nevertheless, GMC managed to disguise the weight of the car well. The four-corner adaptive air suspension provides a smooth ride. The suspension uses position and speed sensors to calculate changes in height. The high ground clearance also means the Hummer EV can negotiate obstacles that would be daunting in most cars.
Inside the Humemr electric SUV, there is a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 13.4-inch infotainment screen. The choice of materials doesn't match other GM luxury vehicles, nor do the cloth seats, but the interior is probably easier to keep clean after extended off-road use. By the way, 17 (and this is not a typo!) camera views will also help you off-road.
The Hummer EV SUV has a suggested retail price of $119,280. The price of the Hummer EV 3X model without the off-road package starts at $106,945.
